Help Reduce Surgical Site Infections at Your Hospital

Your hospital is currently fighting to reduce its rates of surgical site infections, improve patient safety and surgical outcomes and lower hospital costs.

It's no wonder. Surgical site infections are the third most common type of hospital-acquired infection—and 40 to 60% are considered preventable.

Surgical site infections endanger patients, increase morbidity and mortality, extend length-of-stay and require significantly more resources, particularly nursing resources.

And with the number of antibiotic-resistant bacteria increasing, another weapon in the fight against surgical site infections would be a welcome relief.

Reducing surgical site infections requires a multi-faceted approach, including hand hygiene, proper administration of systemic antibiotic prophylaxis and implementing the Safer Healthcare Now surgical site infection bundle.

For patients at high risk of developing an surgical site infection, an additional, stronger approach to antibiotic prophylaxis may be required.
