Patient Criteria
Collatamp G is a clinically proven anti-infective surgical implant that delivers a high dose of concentration-dependent gentamicin directly to the site of infection risk, providing effective and efficient antibiotic cover only where needed, when needed.
The collagen substrate possesses exceptional haemostatic properties. Collatamp G is fully resorbable, and does not require a subsequent surgery for removal.
For high-risk surgical cases, Collatamp G is intended to be used as an adjunct to proper administration of systemic antibiotic prophylaxis and the "Safer Healthcare Now" surgical site infection bundle.
Consider adjunctive use of Collatamp G for:
- Patients at high risk of developing a surgical site infection:
- Diabetic or obese
- Elderly or immunocompromised
- Patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score of 3 or higher
- Patients undergoing a surgery with a high risk of infection due to surgery length or type (i.e. "dirty" surgery)
- Patients with a serious localized infection (i.e. osteomyelitis) not responding to systemic antibiotic therapy
- Patients undergoing a surgery where a surgical site infection could prove catastrophic to either patient safety or hospital costs
